Preparing for
Pest Control
Service
We always tell clients how crucial a clutter-free and clean home is to prevent pests. Maintaining this standard is essential to keep pests away for the long term.
Preparing for pest control doesn’t require rigorous cleaning, although it is never a bad idea. Mopping, scrubbing, and/or vacuuming can guarantee an even more effective treatment. Why? A thorough cleaning can remove pest eggs, which are hard for the naked eye to see. Also, pests love more humid, moist areas. Ensuring things are clean and as dry as possible will keep pests from festering.
Our tip is to clean under and around movable appliances, such as microwaves, freezers, refrigerators, and storage units. Pests find these appliances cozy places to hide. The same goes for your garbage, whether it’s a small bin in your bathroom or kitchen.
When it comes to your kitchen, make sure to keep countertops free of dishes, food, and any appliances. Do not leave any food out and open it – cover it and keep it stored away in the pantry or fridge.
For those who have children, protect cribs, toys, and mattresses by storing them in a safe place. Children tend to put objects in their mouths, sometimes without the parent(s) knowing. Our tip is to take the extra step of protecting children’s items before storing them away just in case.
Pest Control Services
How long will it take to get rid of my pest issue?
In most cases, it only takes one to two days to see a noticeable reduction in pest activity. The timeframe depends on the pest we’re dealing with and the materials chosen to ensure the best long-term results.
In certain situations, you may see a slight increase in pest activity right after our initial treatment. Don’t be alarmed – this is a good sign! The treatment disrupted the pests’ normal breeding and feeding patterns, forcing them to look for a new place to live. With the pesticides on them, they will not live long. Their activity should die down in a week or so. If not – contact us. You may need another round of treatment.
Is pest control safe for my family and pets?
Yes. Our pest control is safe. All of our products are EPA-approved and biodegradable. If a product could potentially be unsafe, our technician will promptly inform you. There are particular situations that may require stronger products (for example – to combat fleas, bedbugs, and ticks). These treatments may require you to leave your home for a few hours. You will be informed immediately by your technician prior to your scheduled service if this is the case.
Each technician on our team is trained on industry safety regulations and guidelines. On request, they will also use special products for those who are more sensitive. That said, we always advise asking any questions or expressing any concerns you have to our technicians.
Do I or my family need to leave during the treatment?
Your technician will advise if you, your family, or your pet need to leave the home during treatment. Usually, treated surfaces require time to dry. So, if you have a 2-year-old at home who likes to put anything and everything in their mouth, it’s best to away until your technician confirms it’s safe to enter.
It’s also important to inform your technical of any sensitive persons or things in your household that may need extra care and attention – for example, persons with allergies, pets, fish ponds, or organic gardens (to name a few).
After the technician visited, we experienced heavy rain. Do we need to have another treatment?
This depends on your situation. Our products are designed to resist water and work for the long term. Therefore, technicians can typically treat when there is light to moderate rain. If there is heavy rain or a major storm, we may have to perform another round of treatment.
